This is rich, salty, cheesy, and wildly satisfying. Think deep-dish cheeseburger meets pizza skillet — zero nonsense.


 Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

Meat Crust:

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)

  • 1 large egg

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper (optional if strict carnivore)

“Sauce” Layer:

  • ½ cup full-fat sour cream
    (or 4 oz cream cheese, softened)

Cheese Layer:

  • 2–3 cups shredded whole-milk mozzarella

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar

Toppings (Choose Your Level of Carnivore):

  • 6–8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

  • ½ lb ground beef (optional extra meat layer)

  • 6–8 slices provolone or American cheese

  • Optional (if not strict): diced pickles added after baking


 Equipment

  • 10–12 inch cast iron skillet (best)

  • 9-inch deep pie dish


 Step 1: Build the Meat Crust

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C).

  2. In a bowl, mix:

    • 2 lbs ground beef

    • 1 egg

    • salt & pepper

  3. Press mixture firmly into skillet or pie dish.

    • Press slightly up the sides to form a crust.

    • Make it even thickness so it cooks evenly.

Bake for 15–18 minutes until mostly cooked through.

Drain excess grease (save it for cooking eggs later — liquid gold).


Step 2: Layer It Up

Spread sour cream or softened cream cheese evenly over the meat base.

Add:

  • Half the mozzarella

  • Half the cheddar

  • Optional extra cooked ground beef

  • Bacon crumbles

  • Remaining mozzarella + cheddar

Top with provolone or American slices for that classic cheeseburger melt.


 Step 3: Bake Again

Return to oven for 10–15 minutes until:

  • Cheese is fully melted

  • Edges are bubbling

  • Top gets light golden spots

If you want browning, broil for 2–3 minutes (watch carefully).


 Step 4: Rest (Important)

Let it sit for 10–15 minutes before slicing.

This helps it set so you get slices, not scoop.
